00:00:13 Kevin
Good morning, gang. It is Kevin here for another beautiful morning show. Actually, I was in the shower this morning and I was wondering if we should change the name of the morning show just because they're like kind of they can be long. I try not to keep them long, but I'm wondering if just because they are like the morning show, if we should come up with like a new name.
00:00:33 Kevin
Because we just call it the morning show. Right? Like.
00:00:35 Kevin
It's not like the Morning Joe or whatever. It's just especially it. It hurts because my name isn't Joe, so why would I call it the Morning Joe? Right. So then what's the other thing that we could call it, right?
00:00:49 Kevin
Because it's so quick, maybe like.
00:00:51 Kevin
The morning quickie. I don't know. There's there's a lot of. There's a lot of thoughts we could have out there. So let us know in the comments below if you think we should change the name of the show, not the, you know, not the name of this, the channel or anything, but just the name of the segment, which is the Monday through Friday morning show. So.
00:01:11 Kevin
Obviously, we still have our, you know, themes like our life themes, which are every month and we still have our.
00:01:19 Kevin
What's the other one that we have, the motivational Mondays? So that's obviously a theme to the morning show. We're not going to change that much to your chagrin. We are not going to change that.
00:01:34 Kevin
But yeah, let us know in the comments below if you think that we should. Let's see if YouTube actually has a poll or something we can pop into and see if people give us a response like should we change the morning show name and then have people like suggest names and I'll throw out the morning quickie or something.
00:01:51 Kevin
Kevin's quickies. So. Yeah. No, that's that's great. We'll do updates at the end. This is kind of an update and we probably should push it off to the end. I'm taking advice from another YouTuber. I was watching a video the other day.
00:02:08 Kevin
And so.
00:02:11 Kevin
I was talking to I I think it was right before we went on. We went live. I was talking to, I don't know if it was Amy Sherburn. If it was somebody that was on the show.
00:02:22 Kevin
It was somebody based based on the show I was talking to somebody.
00:02:26 Kevin
And I said, you know, like.
00:02:29 Kevin
I was thinking about it the other day and it was when I was a kid, my dad had a show called the Chip and Brian Show and my dad was Brian and his buddies name. His buddy was chip and they were in the local politics in New Milford, CT and.
00:02:44 Kevin
They were on public access because there was no such thing as YouTube. The Internet was brand new. We had to dial into it like it was very difficult. If you had a Rotary phone, you had to. So essentially you had to dial into the Internet and then, you know, it's just, this is like archaic technology here, I think, like, man invented fire.
00:03:05 Kevin
And then and they kind of carved out wheels out of stone.
00:03:09 Kevin
And then they dialed into the Internet.
00:03:12 Kevin
But I mean that's my that's my course events there but.
00:03:17 Kevin
With that said.
00:03:21 Kevin
I guess we we always get things from how we were raised in our parents and things like that. And I guess I never, you know, you don't really like I'm I'm doing this YouTube thing and I'm doing this the the podcast and I'm doing all this like, you know, public speaking and and you start looking at it and you're like
00:03:40 Kevin
Wow.
00:03:41 Kevin
Like.
00:03:42 Kevin
My dad did this.
00:03:44 Kevin
And I and it just occurred to me, you know, like.
00:03:50 Kevin
Maybe it was a a family member I was talking to because it was like, you know, it just occurred to me Dad had his own TV show for a few years.
00:03:57 Kevin
With his buddy, and they'd bring on political people and interview them. And it was.
00:04:05 Kevin
Controversial because, like they would speak their piece in one show and then interview the guy, or they would talk about local topics, they'd bring homeowners on the show and it's like.
00:04:16 Kevin
I have no idea where Kevin gets this from.
00:04:19 Kevin
So.
00:04:21 Kevin
Uh.
00:04:23 Kevin
With that said, that leads us into the next portion. Is that like?
00:04:28 Kevin
My daughters been talking about starting a podcast and I told her to get to get me some information on it. Obviously they're going to be highly, you know, highly supervised and scrutinized with their their whatever they're trying to do, whether it's a, you know, is it a talk podcast? Is it A, is it a vlog?
00:04:48 Kevin
Is it you know? And then Lachlan and Lennox and Lachlan Lennox just follows behind Lachlan because he wants the same thing and he did the same. He wants the same thing he they both want a gaming channel.
00:05:00 Kevin
And so last night I after they got home from church, we walked. No. That was Wednesday. After they got home from Jujitsu, we went through there. We we we did some research. We went through and we watched some Youtubers and stuff like that.
00:05:15 Kevin
And that's fine and all. I just, you know, as long as he's.
00:05:19 Kevin
Like and I was showing them like we're not gonna start right away. I said you're going to do research first. You're going to look into it. You're gonna find the niche. The demographics. You're gonna listen to what other people have to say before you kind of. And then we're going to formulate a plan, and then you're gonna present your plan to me and.
00:05:35 Kevin
And so, like, he seems to be the one that's making the most headway with it. Quinn let it just kind of fall by the wayside. And obviously Lennox is just following in Loughlin's coattails. So we'll we'll see how that pans out. I don't know why these kids want a podcast. I just I it doesn't make sense to me why? Why?
00:05:53 Kevin
Like, it's not like there's anything else in their life that is driving in this direction. How come every kid doesn't want a podcast?
00:06:00 Kevin
Ohh, it could be that their dad is doing it and they want to be just like Dad and.
00:06:07 Kevin
And that sounds really sad when you look at it from my perspective, like I was doing this and I didn't. I didn't occur to me that my dad did this like my whole life was just like.
00:06:16 Kevin
A shock jock.
00:06:18 Kevin
Guy.
00:06:21 Kevin
Which is funny because he knew who Howard Stern was, but.
00:06:23 Kevin
He never watched.
00:06:24 Kevin
Him like he didn't want to pay for a service to watch him.
00:06:27 Kevin
So it's one.
00:06:27 Kevin
Of those like but.
00:06:31 Kevin
Uh, yeah, I guess the sins of the father. I suppose the sins of the father. But that. Yeah. And actually going down that rabbit hole of where my my dad started his, you know, with his chip and Brian show I was almost like I got to find out when the show aired and.
00:06:51 Kevin
I know that I have tons of reels.
00:06:55 Kevin
I have tons of these, just like film reels that they gave him because once you're once you film it like that's it like what is what was Time Warner Cable or charter communication or whoever it was that I think it Time Warner and Spectrum was up in only in and I mean I know they're all part of the same company now they're all spectrum but like. Yeah.
00:07:14 Kevin
Charter Communications, I believe, is like the parent company because that was the one that was in New Milford and we would go to this little spot next to the Toy Store, which was great cause Dad would go film the show and US kids would run around KB toys.
00:07:26 Kevin
Which is pretty cool as a kid.
00:07:29 Kevin
Because you don't really need parent supervision at the toy store, right? Like cause I I would think that like, you know, sexual predator screening is like top notch at a toy store, right? Or it's not. Or we're all making that assumption that it should be. And it wasn't. So maybe it wasn't the best place to let kids run around without an adult, a parent, somebody you know.
00:07:49 Kevin
It is what it is, but I digress.
00:07:53 Kevin
So I have just these tons of reels and.
00:07:58 Kevin
There was there was 1 and I I brought this up to both like I think it was my brother. I brought it up to my brother and I think I brought it up to Amy Sherburn and and and I probably one or two other people. Recently I've been mulling this over. I remember being a kid and my dad showing us video editing.
00:08:18 Kevin
And he would show us things where, like you, pot like you put your hand up and you pause the camera. I just saw a friend of mine do this on on YouTube the other day or on Facebook. And he started to pull his finger. Or he started to put his ring on his.
00:08:29 Kevin
Finger and then he paused the camera.
00:08:32 Kevin
And then he paused the camera and he was gone. And then he paused the camera again.
00:08:37 Kevin
And then he unpaused it as he was taking the ring off, which gives you the illusion. It's just a little camera trick. My dad would teach us all those kind of things. And I was like, Dad, let's make a horror movie. And so we started doing that.
00:08:50 Kevin
And I just remember sitting down with him with an 8mm tape and some VHS's and like him, kind of like.
00:08:59 Kevin
Pausing, pressing record on a VHD on a VCR and like then he had an 8mm camera and we went over to this guy Bill Wilden's house. When I was a kid, the town was trying to eminent domain his property or they wanted some easement to his property for some reason. I I'm not familiar with the situation, I guess.
00:09:19 Kevin
So like I have all these old reels of my dad's show.
00:09:24 Kevin
It would be great to kind of restore them and have an entire like video log on the.
00:09:29 Kevin
Channel like of just the old shows that I think that would be cool. That was always something like a feather in my like something that would be really kind of really interesting. And I don't know, this thought popped in my head. It was like, man, I could start naming names of like political figures in New Milford, CT just because they would be on my dad's.
00:09:49 Kevin
Well, my dad was on the board of Finance in New Milford for like.
00:09:55 Kevin
She's like, 10 years or something like that. And he like, he would help run campaigns for them for, like, mayoral candidates and school boards. And. And I, like I said, I don't know where I get any of this. Like, it's not like my dad did it.
00:10:11 Kevin
But you know, so it's one of those things I like. I I feel like, yeah, there's nature and there's nurture. And somewhere in between is is where things happen and it's it's just kind of this is more of a reflection day for for me on the show just kind of reflecting back to stuff that I went through as a kid and it was kind.
00:10:28 Kevin
Of interesting so.
00:10:31 Kevin
So anyways, back to Bill Weldon real quick. I'd like to finish this story so.
00:10:35 Kevin
Bill Weldon.
00:10:37 Kevin
Had this issue with the town and my dad brought him on the show where he opened the show with this scene that we made.
00:10:46 Kevin
And this will give you a little bit insight into my dad's flair and where Kevin's flair comes from. My dad had me pretend to be a lawyer from and I'm like an 8 year old kid, 10 year old kid, and he'd be like.
00:11:00 Kevin
I wore one of my dad's suits. He had them all rolled up and pinned. He had my mom get, like, pinned me up and.
00:11:07 Kevin
And.
00:11:08 Kevin
And I had a little tie on and the whole night, and I showed up at Mr. Weldon's house with a briefcase. And I said, Mr. Briefcase, Mr. Mr. briefcase. Mr. Weldon, I'm from the town, and this is my final. This is our final offer, and I handed him the briefcase. And he goes, me and my wife will have to.
00:11:27 Kevin
We'll have to discuss this and you know, and him and his wife are there at the door and a nice nice little house I got was I I vaguely remember it, but I do remember it being a nice house. I remember the yard because that's where we filmed like the front, like driveway where all the trees were. There's some trees in the middle of the driveway.
00:11:46 Kevin
So Mr. Weldon goes. Well, we'll have to review this and he slams the door in my face and then we pause.
00:11:56 Kevin
And then my dad goes to do the next scene, which is me hiding behind a tree, crouched down a little bit with my fingers in my ears, and then he clipped over to a scene from, I believe the movie was like.
00:12:10 Kevin
American Hollywood or something like that. Some guys are driving around in trucks like blowing up houses with rocket launchers, and he took us. I remember him going down to the video store and renting the movie because he remembered the scene and he took like.
00:12:25 Kevin
He took a clip of.
00:12:28 Kevin
The house blowing up one house blowing up and he just used that as like stock footage. He just took it off of some some VHS and he like. And so he started segmenting these like manually using a VHS and then he was able to play that on the air as you know, it was the 90s, you know, so it was.
00:12:49 Kevin
So he plays that on the air and it's so it shows it looks like the the town was so aggressive to getting Mr. Wilden's property that they were willing to blow up his house and kill him to take the land. And, like, was the town really trying to do that? No, but it was shock jock value. And that's really where it all came from. So it was one of those like and it was humorous.
00:13:09 Kevin
Like like it's a little kid. Like you could tell that it's staged. Like there's no, like impersonating a a lawyer for the town. It was like he's 9. He's 8, whatever. Like, it's the.
00:13:21 Kevin
It was very humorous and I I was actually just telling I was. I was telling some people I need to just dig up some of this like it would be great to try to find that scene because I know it's on a real somewhere and I have this machine that's like sitting in his old apartment that I had, like with his stuff. I have to go through, which I don't have time to do, but I got to make time and I have this machine that God knows if it works.
00:13:41 Kevin
And how I'm going to connect it, but apparently I can put the reels into it and that's going to be a whole like effort in and of itself. And I know he also has some old 8mm with some of the stuff backed up onto it and like so for every real.
00:13:55 Kevin
Goal it's probably like the originals and then like any 8mm or any VHS would be like something that was like something he he say like he would have like replicated off of it. Or he had my mom recorded at home on the VCR like we got it, like waiting for spectrum.
00:14:15 Kevin
And produce us copies. Is too long and blah blah blah so.
00:14:19 Kevin
But.
00:14:20 Kevin
There's a nice little Friday trip down memory lane, and so here's for the update section this evening. We have Miss Sonia McCall on the show and.
00:14:31 Kevin
She is the the Alderman for Ward four and UM.
00:14:38 Kevin
And yes, so she'll be on this evening and we will put as soon as that, that interview concludes, we'll do what we did with Amy and everybody else and we will finalize them, put them up online and you'll get to see that back and forth with me and Sonia today. So all right, guys, we'll catch you tomorrow. We'll catch you later this evening on life.
00:14:58 Kevin
