Happy morning Monday.
00:00:09 Kevin
Happy Monday morning.
00:00:11 Kevin
I don't know, just quarterbacking over here.
00:00:18 Kevin
Made some French press coffee this morning.
00:00:20 Kevin
I'm feeling awesome.
00:00:22 Kevin
Have a potential new local business owner that I was talking to the other day and he gave me some of his sample.
00:00:32 Kevin
some of his stuff to sample, and that won't be ready for a couple of days.
00:00:34 Kevin
So I figured I'd take some of my old espresso beans and try to make my way through some old stock and make room for some, new delicious coffee to try.
00:00:45 Kevin
And well, with that said, it's the day before veteran's day.
00:00:53 Kevin
And it gets me to an important point.
00:00:56 Kevin
I wanted to do this a day early.
00:00:58 Kevin
I mean, I still want to do like a veteran's day podcast, but I
00:01:02 Kevin
I feel like most people don't know what veteran's day is.
00:01:06 Kevin
Like, when you're a little kid, right?
00:01:07 Kevin
What's Labor Day?
00:01:08 Kevin
What's Memorial Day?
00:01:09 Kevin
Like, you know, what's this?
00:01:12 Kevin
What's that?
00:01:12 Kevin
Like, you know, well, what does, you know, what does Labor Day mean when it, like, why can't you wear white clothes after Labor Day?
00:01:20 Kevin
Or, you know what I mean?
00:01:21 Kevin
Or it's one of those like, you're a little kid, you don't know, right?
00:01:25 Kevin
And nobody really truly explains it, you know, at least
00:01:29 Kevin
Repetition is important, right?
00:01:30 Kevin
You send your kids to school.
00:01:32 Kevin
What is on average, 10 to 15% of what you learn in a day is retained.
00:01:38 Kevin
So it's like, hey, kids, we're learning numbers.
00:01:40 Kevin
Like, well, then why the hell do we spend 12 years beating numbers into kids' heads?
00:01:44 Kevin
So that they remember and retain all the information that we do to maneuver and manipulate numbers and the numbers themselves and how to add them, multiply them, divide them.
00:01:53 Kevin
Like we spend 12 years doing that.
00:01:55 Kevin
Because you got to think like day one, like this is the number one, like
00:01:59 Kevin
Okay.
00:02:00 Kevin
so if you go one through 10, the kids are gonna remember like one to two numbers, right?
00:02:07 Kevin
Like, okay, well guess what?
00:02:08 Kevin
We're gonna do it again.
00:02:09 Kevin
Well, you spend one day going over Memorial Day, Labor Day, veteran's day, and it's just one of those things, like people don't know what it is.
00:02:23 Kevin
And
00:02:23 Kevin
with the divisiveness in our country now, and I think divisiveness is handy.
00:02:28 Kevin
I mean, it's more about the debate, right?
00:02:29 Kevin
So if I debate you on why you voted for whatever president you just voted for, if I debate you on some topic on the internet, if I troll you, know what I mean?
00:02:43 Kevin
Like, yeah, sure, there's divisiveness, but at the end of the day, we're all Americans and we should have a common American pride.
00:02:49 Kevin
And the downside is that this divisiveness is not leading
00:02:53 Kevin
When I was in the comic council, we used to, there was nights that like all, like we'd get along and then all of a sudden there's nights that we'd like scream and yell at each other over budgets.
00:03:01 Kevin
And then at the end of the meeting, it's like, you know, I would calm down and then I'd be like, how am I gonna go talk to these people again?
00:03:08 Kevin
Like I just got in a screaming match with them.
00:03:10 Kevin
And then like we would talk the next day and it was like, or we talk later on, you know, and it was like,
00:03:16 Kevin
nothing had happened, right?
00:03:18 Kevin
And it's like, and people, I think people forget that.
00:03:20 Kevin
They're like, oh, I can't get in an argument with this person because they're on the internet.
00:03:24 Kevin
And then you get on the internet and they're like, they start fighting and it's like, oh, this person just trolled me and I hate them.
00:03:31 Kevin
They're now my mortal enemy.
00:03:32 Kevin
And it's like, well, it's because you didn't have an in-person dialogue with them.
00:03:36 Kevin
But
00:03:36 Kevin
let's remember that moving forward.
00:03:38 Kevin
But that divisiveness has also gotten like, well, I'm going to take this a step further.
00:03:42 Kevin
This person's a veteran.
00:03:43 Kevin
This person's an American.
00:03:44 Kevin
This person doesn't like this.
00:03:46 Kevin
person doesn't like that.
00:03:47 Kevin
Well, the American system is broken.
00:03:49 Kevin
And then you get all these other, these bad actors coming in and manipulating the system to where, like, people don't want to be an American, which is depressing because you have people that are willing to die and fight for our country and our freedoms and all this other, you know, all these great things that
00:04:04 Kevin
that make America great.
00:04:06 Kevin
And you have people willing to die for that and serve their country, not in the hopes to die, but in the thought that they're doing good in the world.
00:04:15 Kevin
And if for some reason something bad happens, you know what I mean?
00:04:19 Kevin
Like they're expecting, like if they have to, they will die for our country and our freedoms.
00:04:24 Kevin
And so, like you see all the younger generation now, and they're just like, America sucks.
00:04:31 Kevin
America's broken.
00:04:32 Kevin
America's
00:04:33 Kevin
founded by colonists and slavers and blah, blah, blah.
00:04:36 Kevin
It's like, no.
00:04:41 Kevin
Sure, it was founded by colonists, because we, colonialism and what, but it's like, who cares?
00:04:50 Kevin
Every place was colonized by somebody.
00:04:54 Kevin
Like, what came first?
00:04:55 Kevin
The chicken and egg.
00:04:55 Kevin
You want to go down like a philosophical rabbit hole over it?
00:04:58 Kevin
No.
00:04:58 Kevin
But then like, you can't be like, oh, now we have to hate America, you know?
00:05:02 Kevin
Two 150 years later, because, we don't like, because we...
00:05:07 Kevin
I don't like with how they started it.
00:05:08 Kevin
it's like, well, then why is that an idea?
00:05:10 Kevin
Why didn't they do this 50 years after founding?
00:05:12 Kevin
Why didn't they do this 200 years after founding?
00:05:14 Kevin
Why didn't they do 100, 127 and a half years into it?
00:05:20 Kevin
They just said, nah, sorry, you had slaves once.
00:05:23 Kevin
We don't think you've redeemed yourself.
00:05:24 Kevin
You know, it's like so dumb.
00:05:26 Kevin
But anyways, getting back to it.
00:05:33 Kevin
This is America and we need to be proud to be Americans regardless of how much we fight on the internet.
00:05:38 Kevin
Regardless how many times Kevin trolls you or you troll Kevin, we're Americans and we need to have that American pride.
00:05:51 Kevin
Because to fight for our freedoms, to have that national pride, right?
00:05:55 Kevin
Like, and that's a pride that's okay to have, right?
00:05:57 Kevin
Like to be proud to be an American is a good thing.
00:06:03 Kevin
it's okay to be proud to be an American.
00:06:09 Kevin
And I don't know, it's just, it's one of those things.
00:06:13 Kevin
We've lost it and it's, and we need to, we need to get back to it.
00:06:16 Kevin
We need to go back to being a proud country because veteran's day is full of people who have served in our military, alive and deceased.
00:06:27 Kevin
And if you will, they were the volunteers.
00:06:32 Kevin
right?
00:06:32 Kevin
Because these are the people that volunteered to do it so they could get rid of the draft.
00:06:37 Kevin
These are the people that did it so you didn't have to.
00:06:39 Kevin
But when push comes to shove, and I've talked about this on the show before, in order to fight for our freedoms, like we send all the volunteers first, and let's say something catastrophic happens and all the volunteers get killed or they're losing numbers, they will start pulling people.
00:06:57 Kevin
And to the point that like,
00:07:00 Kevin
If a war was bad enough and they were coming in, and we haven't had a war on American soil, so I mean, if things were bad enough, and then people are gonna say the war on terror or something, but no, that's a little bit different, but like an active, like deployed troops, if things get bad enough and we lost all the volunteers and all the able-bodied, you know, adults, and then all you have left is like the weak women,
00:07:30 Kevin
the stay-at-home moms, the children, all the people that had to stay home for whatever reasons.
00:07:35 Kevin
Rosie the Riveter was riveting planes, whatever.
00:07:38 Kevin
Like, guess what?
00:07:40 Kevin
You're going to either pick up arms or whatever thing that is coming through and wiping us out.
00:07:45 Kevin
You're going to have to defend it.
00:07:48 Kevin
Or they're just going to decimate because if they're just wiping us out so easily, then essentially why wouldn't they eradicate every living soul on this, on this, on American soil, right?
00:07:58 Kevin
And that is the inevitable conclusion of what would happen if we were to lose a war, right?
00:08:02 Kevin
Like you would just like, these are all the people, these are all the equipment.
00:08:05 Kevin
Okay, they get wiped out.
00:08:06 Kevin
Well, what's next?
00:08:07 Kevin
Do we get the runner-ups?
00:08:08 Kevin
Okay, these are people that don't want to fight, but guess what?
00:08:10 Kevin
You're going to have to or you're going to get eradicated because you just stand there and be like, I don't fight no war.
00:08:14 Kevin
And then they shoot you.
00:08:15 Kevin
know, that's what happens.
00:08:16 Kevin
That's what happens in a war.
00:08:18 Kevin
All is fair in love in a war.
00:08:22 Kevin
But yeah, so if you don't want to be an American,
00:08:27 Kevin
like that's that you should be proud to be an American.
00:08:29 Kevin
And I guess I want a little rabbit hole there about like veteran's day is about the people that volunteered to potentially die for this country, to die for our freedoms, the people who have died for our freedoms.
00:08:41 Kevin
veteran's day is to celebrate those people, the people that like said, hey, I'm going to serve my country.
00:08:47 Kevin
I'm going to stand up.
00:08:48 Kevin
I'm going to fight for American freedoms.
00:08:50 Kevin
I am proud to be an American.
00:08:52 Kevin
Those are the people that tomorrow is for.
00:08:57 Kevin
And to better celebrate veteran's day, you should be proud to be an American.
00:09:03 Kevin
You, the individual, the person who may not have volunteered to fight for your country, to serve your country, the person who did not.
00:09:11 Kevin
That's who I'm talking to right now, because veterans know that they're veterans.
00:09:16 Kevin
Veterans might be humbled and don't want to be appreciated.
00:09:19 Kevin
Maybe they don't need to be appreciated, whatever.
00:09:21 Kevin
Like, that's fine.
00:09:22 Kevin
But you should still appreciate them.
00:09:24 Kevin
That doesn't regard the fact, well, he doesn't want me to.
00:09:27 Kevin
Like, I don't care.
00:09:29 Kevin
You should want to.
00:09:30 Kevin
You should want to show appreciation for the veterans for what they did for our country, the service that they've provided, the service that they have valiantly laid down their lives in a lot of instances to defend your right to live the way that you live today.
00:09:47 Kevin
And on that note, I'm going to end today's podcast just under 10 minutes.
00:09:50 Kevin
And
00:09:51 Kevin
I will see you guys tomorrow, and I hope you have a good and valiant veteran's day.
00:09:57 Kevin
Hug a veteran, lay down flowers at a grave site, and we'll see you guys tomorrow.
