Hey gang, Kevin here, Life22.
00:00:07 Kevin
And most of you who follow the channel may know that I am a proud Hibernian.
00:00:14 Kevin
I'm an Ancient Order of Hibernian member, an AOH member.
00:00:18 Kevin
The local division is across from the former Dale Tile plant.
00:00:21 Kevin
And they're just a great Irish Catholic, you know, family-oriented, heritage-oriented
00:00:29 Kevin
organization.
00:00:30 Kevin
And they do good things for the community.
00:00:32 Kevin
They give back.
00:00:36 Kevin
And they're just all around, a good group of people, right?
00:00:41 Kevin
They donated at the, they always, every year, they donate to the St.
00:00:43 Kevin
Mary's Festival with volunteers and fire pits to help them raise money for the, local, the local Catholic Basilica, things like that.
00:00:52 Kevin
So this year is the first year in almost 20 years that our city is holding
00:00:59 Kevin
a Celtic festival.
00:01:00 Kevin
Normally we, they have little festivals, St.
00:01:03 Kevin
Patty's Day, halfway to St.
00:01:04 Kevin
Patty's Day festivals.
00:01:05 Kevin
They do scholarship raffles, things like that.
00:01:10 Kevin
And this year is the first year in 20 years, which almost 20 years, which is phenomenal because the last time I went to one of these, it was, yeah, because I'm 38 this year.
00:01:18 Kevin
Last time I went to one was I was 19 and I was volunteering at it.
00:01:22 Kevin
So it's one of those.
00:01:25 Kevin
It's one of those really exciting things.
00:01:27 Kevin
And I don't think the word is out there enough.
00:01:28 Kevin
They have a website, they have a Facebook, they've been doing a lot more like promoting and PR stuff.
00:01:34 Kevin
And what came to my attention last night was, or a couple days ago, was I saw some of the local, you know, of the bands that are going to be playing and they've got some, you know, wide reaching bands and musical performances at this year's festivals because they're going all out this year on the music.
00:01:55 Kevin
And so obviously we have the local, like the Bob Drivers, which is a local Irish band, which is, we love them, right?
00:02:05 Kevin
So, and we got to keep it local.
00:02:07 Kevin
But at the same time, we also want to try to bring people to our area.
00:02:11 Kevin
So they've gone around and I discovered this part last night was they'd gone around and they had gotten a lot of just,
00:02:21 Kevin
bands that play big Celtic festivals and they're real like headliners.
00:02:26 Kevin
And it's kind of exciting and they're going to draw a larger crowd from a larger demographic.
00:02:30 Kevin
There's some people that are coming literally just to see some of the headliners.
00:02:33 Kevin
And, you know, that's not to say that our local bands aren't great, but it'll be awesome that we're able to bring such a wide variety of talent to our area in addition to what we already have.
00:02:47 Kevin
And one of them, I was
00:02:49 Kevin
telling one of the guys at the AOH, hey, this is, I noticed you guys got Allie the Piper.
00:02:56 Kevin
And I was like, I didn't, I was like, man, why am I recognizing these YouTube reels?
00:02:59 Kevin
And I checked my own algorithm and I'm like, oh, that's right.
00:03:02 Kevin
She's the girl that plays a lot of covers of good, you know, Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne.
00:03:09 Kevin
She's playing that stuff on the bagpipes.
00:03:13 Kevin
And that's kind of her name, you know, her, the name of the game.
00:03:15 Kevin
And that's, you know, that's how she's gotten a lot of her notoriety is she's A bagpipist.
00:03:20 Kevin
Bagpiper.
00:03:21 Kevin
And she'll be coming to our festival, which is really exciting for a small little city like Olean to have somebody that's world renowned.
00:03:32 Kevin
She's on tour right now, from what I gather, and she's traveling the world playing.
00:03:37 Kevin
And so we get to pick up on her tour this year, which is really just phenomenal.
00:03:42 Kevin
We have the Irish Lassies.
00:03:43 Kevin
They have a website, and
00:03:45 Kevin
I know that in July, the ticket prices go up for this.
00:03:48 Kevin
So if you get your tickets early, get that early bird special, get on the website and get your tickets or reach out to somebody who can get you a set of tickets.
00:03:58 Kevin
I believe they all go through the website.
00:03:59 Kevin
I can find out.
00:04:02 Kevin
I get tickets now by clicking the link here.
00:04:04 Kevin
There's a QR code.
00:04:05 Kevin
So if you're more tech savvy or you don't know how to type, maybe, I don't know.
00:04:11 Kevin
and you just want to put your phone up and let it take you to where it's got to go.
00:04:14 Kevin
But it's OleanCeltic.com is the Olean Celtic festival, the Olean area Celtic festival.
00:04:22 Kevin
And you can check out all the information about the festival.
00:04:24 Kevin
It's coming up.
00:04:25 Kevin
It's August 29th, Saturday.
00:04:28 Kevin
That's the big day.
00:04:29 Kevin
But they're opening to the public for that first night on the 28th.
00:04:33 Kevin
So 28th at about 4 or 5, they'll be opening at Gargoyle Park.
00:04:38 Kevin
It's a city of Olean Park.
00:04:39 Kevin
It's actually just on the outskirts of the city.
00:04:42 Kevin
And if you don't know where that is, and I invite all to come far and wide, come on down and check out the Olean Celtic Festival.
00:04:52 Kevin
It's going to be a good one.
00:04:54 Kevin
It's going to be a more than good one.
00:04:55 Kevin
This is going to be phenomenal.
00:04:57 Kevin
And yours truly will be there.
00:04:59 Kevin
And I hope to see you there.
00:05:02 Kevin
And we'll catch you guys next time on Life 22.
